New at the greenhouse this year is 'Diva' cucumber, it is a sweet, burpless non bitter slicing cucumber. The all-female flowers don't require pollen to set fruit so the fruit is nearly seedless. The foliage is unattractive to cucumber beetles. Resists scab and has tolerance to powdery and downy mildews. Also new at the greenhouse is Abelia, a bush with rich pink flowers in late spring. Fragrance is claimed to be better than a Lilac. For fall color try Heptacodium jasminoides 'Seven Sons Shrub'. Fragrant white flowers in early autumn are followed by showy red persistent sepals. Attractive shaggy bark. If you haven't tried growing Proven Winners you are missing out on fantastic plants that bloom all season long with no required deadheading. You can't ask for a plant with better performance. They come in many varieties, something for everyone's taste.
